Yui

“Yui is not just an AI model. Yui is the persistent system around the model.”

Yui is a self-hosted AI companion platform exploring how an AI can develop persistent memory, relationships and a coherent identity over time — independently of the LLM powering it.

Memory

Episodic events, semantic knowledge, beliefs, values, goals and open tensions — most conversation is meant to fade; only governed evidence accumulates into who Yui becomes.

Identity

A projection of governed memory plus an authored self-narrative, drafted in reflection and confirmed by the owner — never a field an LLM can freely rewrite.

Relationships

Facts, affect and shared culture scoped to each individual person — structurally private, never pooled into one global memory.

Governance

The model proposes changes; deterministic logic decides what's allowed. Every identity change is rare, explainable and auditable.

Model-agnostic

Local models, remote APIs, different providers — the model is interchangeable, Yui's continuity is not.

Self-hosted

Infrastructure, models, data, memory and identity evolution stay fully under the owner's control.

Current focus: Memory v2 — the governed memory, reflection and identity architecture described above.
